Orange You Happy

While summer's winding down, I'm currently in denial phase so I painted my nails a happy shade of orange to keep the summer vibe going. We went to see an outdoor concert last night and it was cold! Luckily I brought a jacket but at times like this, I wish I lived further down south so I could bask in the sunshine all year round. But, for now, I'll stick to the nail polish.

I actually really like this brand for nail polish, usually polish on my fingernails don't last for more than a week but this one last for a week and a half before I got bored with the colour and decided to change it up. I definitely recommend it if you're looking for a durable polish at a low cost!

Relationships 101

While I'm no expert in the relationship department, I do know a thing or two about love and how to keep a relationship strong. I've been with my high school sweetheart for over 5 years now and my friends are always asking me for advice, so each Friday, I'll post one thing that I've learned from my relationships. So tip #1:

Don’t pick fights you know you’re going to lose. This one is obvious but we all do it. Constantly. They say "choose your battles" and in a relationship this statement is incredibly true. If you know you did something wrong, then take ownership of your mistakes and apologize. But if it’s an issue that you really believe in, don’t back down and give in. Listen to his side but also voice your own opinion. If it’s an issue that is really important to you, try to work something out and if he doesn’t want to, then he’s just not worth your time.

Sometimes, we like to pick fights because we’re just in the mood to argue. I do this all the time (I can’t help it!). I think arguing can be really beneficial to a relationship but it really depends on what you’re arguing about, how often and how you go about arguing. Here are some tips that I use when arguing (and I win most of them by the way =P).

· Start by using “I” instead of “you” as in “I feel that there’s a lot of your clothes lying around” instead of “You leave your clothes everywhere”

· Stay calm. I know this is easier said than done but if you can keep calm; it’s easier for you to think clearly and reason with your partner.

· Reiterate your partner’s point of view. By repeating what he said, it shows that you’re listening and considering his side of the argument so that he is more open to listening to yours.

· Don’t use personal attacks. This is probably the most important tip. Arguments are beneficial when you both learn something and come out of it stronger as a couple, if you attack each other personally; it’s only going to damage your relationship. Personal attacks just make you look petty.

Hopefully this helps! Happy Friday!

Wedding Blitz

Ok, I really meant to post this up yesterday but I've been so busy lately and there just aren't enough hours in a day. My sister's wedding is in 2 and a half weeks and I'm the maid of honour/wedding planner. So of course, it's about time that I start freaking out about the seating plans, menu, speeches, and schedules. For this wedding, I've volunteered to create a bunch of DIY projects and now it's coming back to bite me.

I've already made the wedding favours, the aisle runner, ceremony decorations, and table number cards. I still need to make ceremony programs, menus, the seating chart, and I need to write my maid of honour speech and plan out what I'm going to say as the MC for the reception (did I mention Ihave a lot of stuff to do?) But the thing is, I really love arts and crafts and I take my job as maid of honour very seriously. I'm just hoping that I'll be able to get everything done in time for the wedding and I'll post pics of all my DIY projects after the wedding. For now, I've got menu tastings and dress fittings to go to so keep checking in and comment!

Sting Rays

Ok, these are the last vacation photos I'm gonna share! Yay! I think these pics are from one of the hottest days that we had in Florida. Even in this dress I was sweating like crazy (I know, gross). But the best part was getting to touch sting rays! They're so smooth and the water was really nice and cool so I didn't mind sticking my arm in it at all.

This dress was a little bit of a DIY project for me because I'm short and this dress was really long and it doesn't have much shape to it. So I mended the bottom to make it a cute mini and I threw a skinny belt on it to give some shape and make it look less like a nightgown. Hope you like it!
